OUR JOURNEY
The story of Youturn’s beginnings is a powerful testament to community spirit and grassroots initiatives meeting the needs of the Sunshine Coast. Our journey started in 1989 with the Noosa Accommodation Project (NAP), founded by five dedicated volunteers to provide shelter for six young people experiencing homelessness. With community support, NAP quickly grew, expanding its services to assist young individuals aged 16 to 21.
In 2016, Youturn merged with Toowoomba Youth Service and opened headspace Toowoomba, further broadening our impact. Over the years, our organisation has grown dynamically, continuously adapting to meet the evolving needs of vulnerable individuals. Our services have expanded across the areas of Child Safety, Homelessness, Mental Health, and Suicide Prevention.
In recent years, Youturn has undergone significant expansion and restructuring, focusing our efforts on Health Services and Community Services, including the opening of a Youth Enhanced program in Adelaide and Toowoomba. While youth support remains at the core of our mission, we have widened our scope to assist people of all ages. Though the Sunshine Coast is our cherished home, we have embraced our role as a national provider, committed to being responsive in each community we serve. Throughout our journey, we honour our heritage while evolving to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.
